car is sad

Posted by ben on 20th June

So for the past week or two, my car (2004 Jetta turbodiesel) has been ‘pulsing’ or ’surging’ when at speed. It accelerates OK, but doing e.g. 30 in 3rd gear the power will flutter as if I were pulsing the pedal. On Sunday, the Czech engine light came on (why do they call it that?)

So… should I take it to the dealer? Should I take it to University Foreign Car on Kalamazoo? Should I call Tom and Ray?

Anybody know what the problem might be? My best guess, which isn’t that great, is fuel injectors.

P would probably know best, but you should take it somewhere.

I imagine that All Import Auto Care would take a look at it for you (and it’s where P has taken his car in the past).

Also, the link to your rss badge (wp-content/themes/tv_blackverse/images/rss.png) is broken on your comments page, because it’s missing the first / to make it a non-relative path.

    fixed it.

fixed the relative link, not the car.

If the check engine light is on, then the first thing you should do is check to make sure the engine is still there. If it is, then take it to a shop. It is likely a sensor that has gone bad, and any shop with an obd-II scanner (any shop), or better yet a vag-com system should be able to plug it in and tell you exactly whats wrong with it.

My guess is a faulty sensor of some kind, or possibly just a wiring short somewhere. VW’s are pretty infamous for poor wiring.

    haha, you said vag-com.
